More than 1,000 doctors and nurses are taking part in a trial to test how stressed they are.
Medics in Boston, Massachusetts, will wear smartwatch-style devices which monitor temperature, heart rate and other factors and rank stress on a scale of one to ten. The devices can sync with smartphone apps to pinpoint when and where wearers were particularly stressed.
Stress management clinician Aditi Nerurkar said: ‘It’s time for us as doctors to recognise we’re human first, and doctors second.’ Monitor makers Neumitra hope the system will become a standard for stress management.
